FAQ

WHAT IS THE COST

$100 per family, per semester for each week day that you commit to (Note: The cost is not $100 per day, but $100 for the entire semester if you only come one of the days, or $200 if your family wants to attend Tuesday and Thursday for the entire Semester).

Example:

Tuesday Only   = $100 for 14 weeks

Thursday Only = $100 for 14 weeks

Tues. & Thurs.  = $200 for 14 weeks

This covers our basic expenses such as classroom materials, curriculum, printing and general operating costs.

Some classes have minor additional fees and recommend specific textbooks (mostly middle and high school).

We want to ensure that all families have the opportunity to be a part of a community. If you need assistance in paying your enrollment cost, please indicate on your enrollment form.

What does a normal day look like

We start out the morning together with prayer, the pledge, scripture memorization, and announcements. From there parents and children head to their classes for the morning (there is typically a rotation of 4 classes). Occasionally, after the fourth period, families have the option to stay for lunch in the cafeteria, meet at Chieftain Park for lunch when the weather permits or leave for the day. On special occasions we end our day with a special celebration, activities/crafts or pizza parties.

WHAT CLASSES DO YOU COVER

We think it’s important that parents are involved and in full control of their children's main education. However, we want to be here to help in anyway we can.

Both days all students will have a Bible class. Tuesday has a Science emphasis, while Thursday has a History, Geography direction. Each day then also has varying electives depending on which day the lead teacher chooses to teach.

We hope this is helpful to your families by doing experiments and fun learning together!

We also try to engage all ages with fun and interesting classes that may not be a part of a normal home curriculum, such as Art, Spanish, PE, Sign Language, Graphic Design, Photography, etc. Please note that these class choices greatly depend on what the families that attend Shema, desire to teach!

DO I HAVE TO TEACH A Class

You don't have to lead teach any class until you feel comfortable. But, You can do it!

Every parent/guardian is assigned to serve in a classroom to be a helper, regardless. Our enrollment form also asks about your background, passion, experience and the ages you love working with. All moms are assigned to help in classes while their children are in their classes for 3 class periods, with one class period to be used as a break to fellowship and get to know the other Shema families.

Please note that all lead teachers must agree with the Shema statement of faith.

Does shema currently have paid staff

Currently Shema does not have any paid staff, but is subject to change in the future as needed. Shema is currently an all volunteer operation including the board and leadership  teams.
